Soleo 6040 Wide-Deep Architectural Hybrid WPC Aluminum Batten (6″ x 2″)

The Geolam Soleo 6040 is a wide-deep architectural hybrid batten measuring 6″ x 2″, combining an anodized aluminum alloy core (A6063S-T5 Series 6000) with a wood/polypropylene composite (WPC) outer skin through Geolam’s exclusive co-extrusion process. With a full 6″ face and 2″ depth in clean round proportions, the Soleo 6040 is the largest standard rectangular batten in the Soleo range, designed for statement louvered façade screens, deep brise-soleil systems, and bold decorative cladding applications where maximum visual scale and timber-like presence across the facade plane are the design intent. Its length-axis secondary moment of 156.14 cm⁴ is the highest in the Soleo family, making it the range’s most rigid spanning profile. Non-combustible per ASTM E-136, with a 1,600 lineal ft minimum for all colors and custom lengths up to 19 ft 8 in. End caps and connectors are not available.

Key Benefits

Authentic Wood Appearance The Soleo 6040’s full 6″ face and 2″ depth in clean round proportions produce a bold, timber-scale rectangular batten that casts deep, well-defined shadow lines across louvered façade screen systems and brise-soleil accents, replicating the visual weight and warmth of large-dimension sawn hardwood at a scale that commands presence across large commercial and institutional facade elevations.
Non-Combustible Certified non-combustible per ASTM E-136 (appendix), qualifying the Soleo 6040 for fire-regulated commercial, high-rise, and institutional facade and screen applications.
Zero Maintenance The Soleo 6040 resists UV fading, moisture ingress, and weathering across its full service life without staining, sealing, or painting at any point.
Performance The aluminum alloy core delivers a secondary moment of 156.14 cm⁴ along the length axis, the highest Iy value in the Soleo range, at 1.61 lb/ft, providing the greatest spanning rigidity of any standard Soleo profile with a thermal expansion coefficient of 23.4 μm/m/°C for predictable dimensional behavior across large-span screen and facade systems.
Custom Lengths Available from 7 ft to 19 ft 8 in (2.15 m to 6 m). End caps and connectors are not available for this profile; specify required lengths at time of order to minimize on-site cuts.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Soleo 6040 made of? The Soleo 6040 is co-extruded with an anodized aluminum alloy core (A6063S-T5, Series 6000) and a wood/polypropylene composite (WPC) outer skin, producing a wide-deep 6" x 2" batten profile with a sanded wood-grain surface on all visible faces.
Is it fire-rated? Yes. The Soleo 6040 is certified non-combustible per ASTM E-136 (appendix), qualifying it for fire-regulated commercial, high-rise, and institutional projects.
What is the minimum order? The minimum order is 1,600 lineal ft for all standard colors (Teak, Moleskin, Rosewood, and Ebony). Non-standard colors Carbon and Bilinga require 5,000 lineal ft with a 90-day lead time. Custom colors require 6,000 lineal ft.
Are end caps or connectors available? Neither end caps nor connectors are available for the Soleo 6040. Specify required lengths at time of order to minimize on-site cuts. Contact Geolam for installation guidance specific to this profile.
How does the 6040 differ from the Soleo 6034? The 6040 is larger in both dimensions: 6" x 2" (150 x 50 mm) vs 4 1/8" x 2 1/8" (105 x 53 mm) on the 6034. While both share a similar 2" depth, the 6040's wider 6" face produces a bolder facade rhythm and a higher secondary moment (156.14 vs 62.44 cm⁴) for stronger long-span performance. The 6034 has end caps available; the 6040 does not. Choose the 6040 when maximum face width and spanning rigidity are the priority.
